What kind of plants/flowers can I put on my hillside that'll cover the grass?

My hillside is very steep and I wanted to 'replace' the grass with flowers, groundcover or any other kind of plant. I can't, and don't want to weed it and I can't put mulch on it either. It is a very, very large area. I want perennials so I don't have to keep re-planting. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

you can get a wild flower mix --- i understand that most good garden centres have these.
there is web site, unfortunately i dont know which one, but it you type in wild flower seeds you should be able to follow the links.
you would then have a lovely meadow type area which will reseed itself annually.

We have a 12 foot deep pond that has been overrun with grass and weeds from beneath the water. We're trying to clean it out by using a long rake to break off weeds and pull them to shore. Any ideas of chemicals we can use without killing the fish and turtles in the pond?
